Well, they had to do something. TMC has had a rough couple of years after the Deweerts and their loyal entourage left the building. Mervin Mediwake and the Bennetts just don't seem to have the pizazz (or should I say, "believability") to bring in enough dough to keep the station growing. So it doesn't come as any real surprise that they found someone new to "steer the ship" in an attempt to revive the glory days of TMC.
Here's the announcement from their electronic newsletter:
2010 means change at TMC
Over the past year the Board of Directors of the Miracle Channel Association has prayed about and worked toward finding a leader of God's choice, to take this ministry to where He wants it to go. The Board has sensed the Lord's leading and is now pleased to announce that Leon Fontaine will assume the role of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for the Miracle Channel as of January 1, 2010.
Leon, who heads the Springs mega-church, has an extensive background in church and media ministry and is excited about what God wants to accomplish in Canada and beyond through the channel.
Please join us in welcoming Leon and Sally Fontaine to the Miracle Channel and in praying for them as they seek God's wisdom for the direction He is leading all of us. The Board, Fred & Val Bennett, and the entire Miracle Channel team will continue the work set before us, and want to thank you for your continued prayer and support.
But is it all really about building the kingdom of God or is there more to be gained by this marriage of convenience? In other words, what's in it for Leon Fontaine? Does he not have enough on his plate leading the mega church he has built? I'd love to see the prenuptual agreement!
According to a statement on the Miracle Channel's web site, Shaw Cable in Campbell River has removed them from their programming lineup. There is no reason provided by The Miracle Channel but it is stated on their site that it is due to circumstances "beyond their control". Looks like someone hasn't been hearing their prayers... you know... "whatsoever you ask in My Name..."
Perhaps TMC just hasn't sown enough into that area. Maybe they need to follow their own advice and sow more... perhaps they are only one sacrifice away...
If this is the kind of victory that comes out of events like the Dominion Conference, you might want to carefully consider the harvest of benefits of attendance at such events. After all, it's not quite the kind of fruit I would want to reap, nor the type of anointing I desire.
If you're a regular viewer of 100 Huntley Street, you've probably been wondering why Ron Mainse and his brother, Reynold Mainse, have not been on the air for the past few weeks. Turns out, like so many other televangelist celebritites, they let their greed get them into some hot water as either victims or perpetrators of an affinity fraud/ponzi scheme. The jury's still out... Think they will they ever learn?
What do you get when you mix a wacky
"pro-Lakeland revival" prophet, a couple of ministers whose number
one (and possibly only) kingdom principle is "finances" together with
a couple of American televangelists desperate to see their station stay afloat?
Well, you guessed it! A week-long fundraiser of course, carefully designed to
make you, dear viewer, think that you're the one who is getting blessed by
sending THEM your money! Though it’s called, “Living Waters Partnership Week”,
it would be more aptly titled, “Televangelists Profiting From Your
Insecurities.”
Hi all. Boy its dead in here. Just wondering if anyone knows how Boersma's are doing since they were "moved" from Brooks Victory to The Dominion Gateway" . Since his departure the Victory church in Brooks has split and a new church called "The Well" has sprung up. The strife at Victory has continued with even another separate purging of "bad fruit" by tyrant Bill Martin.

Q - What has become of "Master's Commission", the Miracle Channel's in-house school of broadcasting? Did the school shut down due to the departure of Dick and Joan Deweert (aka Dewert) and subsequently their son-in-law Ryan Caldwell, who was the Student Director of the school? Also, to date, did any of the graduates of the program go on to achieve a successful career in broadcasting outside of the Miracle Channel Association? I am querying the effectiveness of the school in producing qualified, educated media personnel. Or was the whole thing just a ploy to enlist more volunteers to man the phones and do time in the war room?
In light of recent complaints currently before the CRTC concerning the most recent fundraising campaigns of The Miracle Channel, a donor alert is being issued.
This donor alert will remain in effect until such time as the CRTC arrives at a determination concerning the noted complaints. Should further complaints arise as a result of the fundraising and/or programming practices of The Miracle Channel, the donor alert will continue until such time as the issues are determined by the CRTC.
For the ease of the reader, copies of the complaints and responses are provided below. These documents are also available to the public by requesting them directly from the CRTC.
Should you have questions concerning any of the above documents, we suggest you contact the authors directly. To further enlighten the readers of this article, feel free to post your written communications with them as a comment.
On May 20, 2009, the CRTC provided the following determination:
Mr. Tim Thibault Box 3220 Humboldt, SK S0K 2A0
Dear Mr. Thibault:
Re: Case ID: 436983 & 422625 - The Miracle Channel: Alleged Breaches of the Fundraising Requirements & Religious Broadcasting Policy
This is in reference to the above-noted complaints filed with the Commission (dated 20 November 2008 and 15 February 2009) alleging breaches by The Miracle Channel (TMC) of certain fundraising requirements in the Religious Broadcasting Policy and TMC's revised internal policies.
After extensive review and consideration of the related correspondence, tapes of the programming and previous complaints in regard to this issue, Commission staff have determined that the licensee has demonstrated that is cognizant of its responsibilities. In coming to this conclusion, we are of the opinion that the licensee is effectively implementing and administering the required regulatory obligations as previously outlined in TMC's revised fundraising policy.
In our review of the cases in question, we do not share your viewpoint that the licensee breached any provisions of its internal fundraising policies nor the Religious Broadcasting Policy. Moreover, we note and concur with the licensee's comment that it finds it difficult to respond to some of the accusations in your letters of complaint in the form of long quotes, without a detailed explanation of the specific nature of the concerns.
Nevertheless, it is our view that the licensee has afforded proper consideration to your concerns. Commission staff have thoroughly reviewed your concerns from 2006 to date and are satisfied that the licensee has instituted mechanisms that are effective to address the issues that you have identified.
Furthermore, it is our opinion that your diligence has clearly resulted in the establishment of TMC's revised internal fundraising policy. TMC also appeared at the Calgary 2007 public hearing, and it then further explained its fundraising and solicitation policy to the Commission.
It is our view that no further regulatory action is warranted by the CRTC in regard to these two cases.
Yours sincerely,
Jane Britten Manager, Social Policy CRTC 902-426-7382
cc. Gordon Klassen, Miracle Channel
As the response from the CRTC does not address the above complaints in their entirety, this donor alert will remain in effect.
*Note that this "Donor Alert" is issued for public education and informational purposes. It is not intended to persuade or dissuade donors. Rather, it is issued to enable donors to arrive at their own conclusions for their stewardship, from a factual, unbiased and informed perspective.
Q - Are there any plans under the new leadership of Mervyn Mediwake to stop the faith teachers like Copeland, Hinn, Dollar and others from spreading a false Gospel over the air waves here in Canada, and get back to the real heart of the Gospel death to self and life in Jesus Christ?

Remember singing the song in grade school, “This land is
your land, this land is my land…”? Well maybe I’m dating myself, but I fondly
remember the Canadian version quite well. As a child, the song instilled in me
sentiments of peace and brotherhood, of sharing the treasures of this great
country with all our human brothers and sisters, regardless of race, religion
or creed. Too idealistic? Too hippy, flowerchild-ish? Perhaps, but I think you
will agree that the altruism of the song, is more in line with the Gospel
message of Jesus than the one that the Miracle Channel is preaching to get your
MONEY.
