The host interviewed a guest by the name of Chris Hedges who is not only a well known journalist with incredible experiences but is also a graduate of Harvard Divinity School who grew up in a Christian environment, his father being a Presbyterian minister.
Chris had some very interesting things to say about the current state of Evangelicalism in the USA. The part that caught my attention was that what he was saying not only applies to our southern counterparts, but also applies to Canada.
Though the interview focused primarily on the U.S. "Christian" climate, the topic is very appropriate for Canada, especially in light of the Miracle Channel, its programming, operations, affiliations and stated agenda.
For those who don’t know, the Miracle Channel subscribes to and propagates Dominion theology. This is evident in all of their programming and is especially obvious in their own productions. One only has to watch one of their many fundraising campaigns and they will arrive at this conclusion.
I will not bother explaining what Dominion theology is within this article but if you’re not familiar with it you can find some information at Wikipedia and for an in-depth study, you can search Google for the words "dominion theology" or "dominionism". For now, it will suffice to say that Dominionism is one of the most dangerous, heretical and abhorrent practices and movements within the Christian church today and one of the largest threats to society. It is also the fastest growing.
What Chris presents in his interview is not unique to the USA. The movement is also alive and well in Canada. You can find out here: http://www.thenation.com/doc/20061127/hedges
I believe this interview is quite timely and for those who adhere to traditional Christianity, or any other belief system for that matter, is a strong warning of what will happen if things remain unchecked.
