First off I would have liked to entitle this article, "My conversation with Dick Deweert on Insight". However, I was never given the opportunity to converse with Dick. I probably would let sleeping dogs lie, but much has happened to myself as a result of my call to the Miracle Channel's noon hour program Insight. Subsequently, I feel it is time for me to speak out in regards to my question as posed to Dick, and an article that has appeared on this site authored by Marina. Marina has managed to succinctly put the gist and spirit with which my question was proffered in her article, and I will not bother to waste the reader's time by regurgitating it again in this article (please see Victims or Felons). I am contributing to this site today to affirm the facts as Marina has stated them, in regards to my call to Insight, and to share further with you, dear readers, of my intentions and ensuing beratement by Dick Deweert.
My intention behind the question was simply to query the Miracle Channel's President regarding the effect that the Wes Campbell fraud charges may have on the Miracle Channel's credibility to the nation, given that Wes and Stacy had been guests of the Miracle Channel and even presented to the Dominion GateWay Church as prophetic ministers with Dick's endorsement. Rather than answer my question rationally, I was treated to Dick's version of a verbal redressing. His comments intoned that I was an accuser and stood in judgement of the Campbells. Whereas, my question had neither accusation nor judgment in either its content or its intention. I was not allowed to point this out as my microphone feed was muted, nor was I provided an opportunity for fair rebuttal. Indeed long before Dick had finished his verbal onslaught and denouncement of myself, for even daring to ask such a question, my telephone connection had been disabled. I was treated wrongly by Dick Deweert on national television, and my words were reposed out of context in a manner which falsely portrayed the nature of my question.
It is true that Dick knows me, I am a member of the DGC congregation. It is also true that I had previously brought my question directly to my brother (the email to which Dick refers - by the way Marina, No Dick has never replied to my email), prior to bringing it again to his attention in the company of others (all of the MC viewers watching at that time - I would like to find out what they thought of his tirade ). I should not want to lead you readers to believe that I was surprised by Dick's response, (though I did attempt for a different outcome by very carefully wording my question). In the past, every issue I have tried to address to Dick has been rebuffed or bluntly ignored. After awhile one gets the idea that Dick considers himself an intellectual and the rest of us the opposite. At the Miracle Channel, like a head shy dog, you learn to keep your mouth shut lest the masters tongue lash sharply at you.
Case in point. Shortly after placing the call, I was contacted by my Pastor and told that Dick and he wanted to have a meeting with me. He suggested it occur that very day. My Pastor also accused me of being the perpetrator of numerous comments made on this site by the author The Last Spike. I answered him as Jesus did His accusers, and I paraphrase, "if this is who you say I am then so be it". I will neither confirm nor deny the accusations as levelled toward me as they are not relevent to the salvation of my soul, the nature of my question on Insight or anybody's business except my own. I will say that I do know who Spike is, and that is all. I only bring this up to point out that those who were so indignant of my question, as to suggest I stood in judgement of the Campbell's, would now measure me by the very same standard upon which they denounce myself. I ask you dear readers, just where is the Solid Rock of foundation upon which they claim to stand firm? It appears the wolf would like his sheep, and eat them too!
I have agreed to meet with both Dick and my Pastor, but upon my own terms. I have received very good advice from one I trust to bring three impartial fellow Christians with me to the meeting. In order that they should stand in witness before Christ to all that they see and hear at the meeting. To this date neither Dick nor my Pastor has agreed to my terms. However, to be fair, I am out of town working quite frequently for extended periods and any arrangement to meet would be difficult.
Slightly off topic yet strangely familiar, are two popular themes currently winding through this site. The first is the debacle surrounding the Campbell's and the Ponzi scheme, and the second is the article concerning the gold dust from Heaven purportedly evidenced at the Miracle Channel's recent Dominion Conference. Both articles share a couple of themes. The first being how followers want so desperately to believe, that they cannot see the truth even as its reality exposes the false (or as the light would penetrate the dark their eyes are still shut). Case in point recent article by Spike claiming glitter and gems were perpetrated by DGC youth. The second theme being, the idea that the followers of Christ will be rewarded from Heaven either by investing in pulpit promoted investments or by sowing of a cash seed so that Heaven will rain gold dust on your parade. For further elucidation of where my thoughts on these two themes are grounded, I recommend that you all read the book "The Pilgrim's Progress" authored by John Bunyon, a Christian.
As for me and my house we will await our reward in heaven.
To this site's Administrators, thank you for bringing my telephone call to Insight, to your readers' attention; and permitting me this forum to inform your readers further. Tim, your experiences with Insight, along with my own, should now confirm that the Miracle Channel does not provide a forum for fairness and balance of opinions.

"In Sight" or "In Spite"?

Welcome to the Miracle Channel Review, John! I'm glad you found your way here. It is really great to hear from the actual horse's mouth on that call on In Sight! You seem to have struck a sensitive nerve with Mr. Deweert. Thank you for your courage to publicly and openly bring this serious issue up for discussion on live television. It was a great encouragement to many. I took great issue with the way your call was handled, and the way in which the investment scandal was minimized. So, after watching the program, I gave my heated two cents in an email to which I have never received a response. (Not that I expected one, thus the reason for my article on this site, which included your call.) Figured I'd post the email I'd sent to the Miracle Channel, for all to see, complete with typos, spelling mistakes and grammatical errors, due to my haste in writing it.

To whom it may concern,
Comments in regard to May 10, 2006 program as I was unable to phone in.
Speaking of morality, what of the morality of white collar crime within the church in light of the charges of fraud brought against Wesley Campbell (the husband of Stacey Campbell) and others in his church who were bilked out of $12 million? Is this a double standard? This is just one small church. How many more dollars are being swindled from believers who trust the man of God who says that their "investment" into whatever will bring them a huge return?
Mr. Dewert renounced the last government for its lack of financial accountability and scandal. He did not simply encourage people to pray for these leaders, he actively incited a movement to oust the God-ordained authorities for mismanaging millions of tax-payer's dollars! Why is it that church leaders who get caught with their hand in the cookie jar get forgiven as just making a mistake and get reinstated so easily, when it is they who must demonstrate a higher standard of righteousness and accountability as representatives of Christ more than anyone? I don't recall seeing any of the disciples being duped or schemed in the N.T.! Something has seriously gone wrong.
The Campbells, particularily Stacey Campbell as a well known prophetess who claims to be in tune with the Spirit of God, should have discerned that the financial investment was a pyramid scheme. Personally I don't believe it would take a great deal of spiritual discernment to see that this promise was "too good to be true". But many are blinded to the obvious when they give place to the greed of the flesh. The leaders of this church and from what I understand, many more well known Christian leaders, failed in their calling to protect the people from the wolves and deceivers. This can be avoided if only people are encouraged to test the words spoken by the modern day prophets and teachers to see if what they say lines up with the written Word. Sadly, church members are expected to blindly submit to elders and are chastened for questioning their dictates. People are told to leave their brains at the door of the sanctuary, so to speak, and cast biblical discernment to the wind.
How can God extract glory from a church that is supposed to bear the mark of His Son, when the leaders who are supposedly His prophets, are involved in robbing His children? And if the children are being robbed physically, whose to say they are also not being robbed spiritually? Where are the watchmen? Asleep at their post.
Christianity is wrought with scandle, greed and hypocrisy and I pray that God is beginning His house cleaning. At least this case managed to surface for all to see and fear. If the church does not sound a clear message to the world through it's demonstration of the righteousness and holiness of Christ, it's message is dead and empty. The people of God must live up to God's standards before they can point His Way to others! There is NO WAY we are going to see morality change in our nation for the better unless the church removes its own filthy sin from the camp and demonstrates the nature of Christ with no shadow of turning! Otherwise all we have is a bunch of lifeless Pharisees for the world to scoff at.
Sincerely, Marina Thibault
John, please let us know if anything further develops in your experience with your pursuit of truth. I'd be really curious to see if Deweert or Ray Block meet with you on your terms and if so, what the outcome is.

I couldn't believe it when I watched your call John. I can't believe the host of the show wasn't willing to even challenge Dick for a moment about your question. In my opinion, your question was legitimate. Mr. Dewert's reply(or lack of it) was anything but honest. I especially disliked the part where he said that Jesus was decieved. I hope God uses you to make them look at the real issue here, which is that they fail to discern the truth. May you speak it in love.

For Dr. Dick Dewert to make the statement on the Insight program that “Jesus was betrayed by Judas” during a conversation about being “duped,” is to infer that Jesus was duped by Judas. Of course this is totally contrary to scripture. John 6:64 says “… Jesus knew from the beginning who they were who did not believe, and who it was that would betray Him.” Such a statement would seem to indicate that Dr. Dick lacks a basic understanding of the omniscience of God. Why would a person with a doctorate degree in Theology (no less) make such a statement as this? Discernment permits me to question whether or not Dr. Dick’s “doctorate” is in fact a matriculated degree. And if it is not a matriculated degree why on earth would he permit himself to be called such, and why would he permit his literature to leave the Miracle Channel labeling himself as “Dr. Dick Dewert.” Does anybody out there know where this alleged degree came from? For the,

I agree with you, Common... discernment does permit for questions such as the one you pose. Hanging around the site for a while also allows us to direct you to some answers if we have them.

Thank you for directing me to the information on Dick Dewert’s academic career. I found it all most interesting. An honoris causa is only a decoration for goodness sake, and it is usually a decoration that is nicely framed and put on the wall. If one would be so inclined to embarrass himself and wear that decoration on a daily basis, accordingly he should always clearly labeled it as such, so as to not mislead people (such as myself) into believing he has labored to matriculate the degree and deserves my consideration as an expert. Rosa Parks received two dozen honorary degrees throughout her life time but when she died, it was not Dr. Rosa Parks whose life we celebrated in the Rotunda of the U.S. Capitol in Washington D.C. Instead it was a humble retired seamstress who worked hard all her life then went home to be with her Lord. Amen and Amen.
At this point I feel a little sad for Mr. Dewert and those who deal with him daily. He must be a very insecure man to need to be referenced as a “doctor” when all he has, is a wall plaque that can be purchased by anybody for the right financial donation to an institution of higher learning that may have a proclivity for selling them. That being said, I still soberly question whether he grasps a full understanding of “fear the Lord” as he misleads mass amounts of people with his “other” gospel.
